Gaming themed house at Crown.

Yup yup. Like I said you can request to move before the school year starts. I know two people who (this school year) got placed in Merrill, but requested to move and got into Crown.

how do you know if you got into the college or not, i cant find it on the myucsc portal :[

@Liesel Thanks for the help!

@Lichen You have to go to " https://sho-prod.ucsc.edu/shs/students/</a> " and then click on Fall 2010 and then maybe on the 5th step you’ll see it. good luck lol

thanks a ton, i got into college ten, hopefully i will be able to game with you since your so close ;]

lol nice. I’m still happy with my second choice. I’m pretty sure there will be ton of gamers that will LAN or play online. I was thinking LANing at Crown will be so much better considering the amount of gamers that will be there. I was actually thinking of staying at 9 but then play games at Crown.

Hey Liesel, Is it possible to play games with people at Crown or is that like “against the rules”?

I’m starting to not want to transfer just because of the extreme luckiness of getting into 9. Either way, I already emailed housing for the transfer.

yea thats exactly what i plan on doing if i dont find as big of a gaming crowd at ten.
and no i dont think its against the rules as long as you find some friends who will let you play in their dorms?

LIESEL let us come over xP

Oh pssh not against the rules at all. It’s not uncommon to have friends at other colleges. Not to mention that at the beginning of the year everyone is super friendly and trying to get to know people, from in their college or not.

Yeah yeah you can come over any time. I’m hoping to get an apartment for next year, but who knows, I may be in the dorms again. >_>;

But you would agree that it would be better to live at Crown to get into all the possible gaming action? I would hate to miss an epic tournament.

Well, depending on how optimistic my thoughts are on College 9 or Crown, I’ll be making the decision to whether to transfer now or wait till later…i hate being undecided.

I just filled out my application to get into the Gaming House (as well as one for the Academic House)

Is it possible to be accepted to both? Or can I choose which one I go to if they do accept me? I’m totally stoked to be able to go to gaming conventions/conferences. PAX and E3…(maybe even GDC!?)…yep :D

@JUSTDOIT415: Probably. There’s definitely spontaneous stuff that you would miss if you lived elsewhere.

@PhantomBMAN: You could certainly be accepted to both, but I think they’ll place you based on what you put as your preference.

@Liesel

I’ve been told they have intense and random pokemon battles at 2 AM in the crown lounge. That’s something so spontaneous that I’d hate to miss. LOL

@Liesel
I’ll most likely stick with College 9 for now. I want to wait and see how College 9 will be even tho I really want to live in the Gaming House. I’ll probably try to transfer later or just make HELLA friends at Crown! xD

@AdmiralQueso: Something along those lines, yes. :P

If none exists, I will most definitely start my own Starcraft Club or something. That game is legendary.

Hrrm, I’m wondering. If my major is just listed in Computer Science, could I change it later to game design or whatever else that I decide to focus on?
Would that even make any difference? :s

Hadn’t really thought about that until I checked it out more a little earlier, haha.

Starcraft 2 beta player, gold leage rank 16 right here :smiley: ill def join.
add me? Lichen.thomas

@Shennanigan: You could definitely change it later. The low devision curriculums for CS and CS:GD are nearly the same. It’s upper devision you’d have to worry out. There is the potential for overlap, but many of the electives in up div are different.

Lichen, if you’re playing the official beta from Blizzard, you’re a lucky guy. I managed to download a SP beta that functions off a patch, and even then it SOMETIMES works.

I haven’t played ranked matches in a hell of a long time though. Lately its just been UMS maps.

Getting into the SC2 beta is no big deal now that you can get a key for preordering from Gamestop or Amazon.

Pity I suck at the game :P

I dont want to pre order just because I dunno if my rig can handle it. My laptop runs the beta, me vs 2 comps on medium difficulty under medium settings at about 20 or so FPS, which is decent (to what I’m used to for an RTS).

If only System Requirements Lab has SC2 on its list…
