GAP Interview Notification

Is pitt gap interview open file or closed file interview?

@honors1, Are you referring to the Medical School GAP? I am not sure, but if you specify the program you are referring to, I can ask around.

hailtopitt1787
the information that you provided is very helpful. My S is out of state and has a full tuition scholarship to pitt for undergrad but did not get into GAP. He still wants to attend the med school. Is it true that preference is given to instate students for admission to Pitt med school?

@momquestion, I have not heard that the Pitt Medical School gives preference to in-state vs. out of state candidates. But our office does not handle graduate admissions, so that would be information you would want to verify with the medical school admissions staff: http://medschool.pitt.edu/admissions/index.aspx

@hailtopitt1787 thank you. Did they also share national acceptance and Pitt acceptance rates. Just looking at the absolute numbers, the data shared by you today suggests that far fewer Pitt premed students got accepted to med school when compared to 2014 (based on data that you shared in 2015). A rough math suggests a 50 percent drop off.

Only 9 acceptances into Upitt med school in 2016 as opposed to 35 in 2014. I don’t know if this downward trend was observed in 2015 as well. I don’t know why there is a drop off. There could be several reasons but it is definitely of concern to someone that is considering Pitt for premed.

Any comments?

@hailtopitt1787 thank you for the update. The new data set is much more encouraging. Would you be able to get the national versus Pitt data or is there someone I can reach out to? I will be visiting Pitt next month.

Hello! I would encourage you to contact the Health Professions Advising staff directly (info in that link I posted).
