Gap year after community college

I'm currently a freshman at a community college in VA and I'm thinking about taking a gap year after two years in cc. Ten months for working/internship (assuming that I have a guaranteed internship during and after cc) and two months of traveling. Has anyone ever done that before? Should I apply right after cc and defer a year or apply for the next transfer year? Is it encouraging, say, in a 4-year-university's perspective for transfer students to do that? Thank you all and I really appreciate all your helps.

Btw, I'm international student.
