Gap Year before transferring to SJSU

Hi everyone, I’m currently a student at De Anza CC interested in transferring to San Jose State University for nursing school. My original plan was to transfer there in Fall 2020 but I ended up hitting a brick wall. The deadline for the supplemental application for the SJSU nursing program is mid-February 2020 and all the prerequisites need to be complete before applying and not in progress. I am expecting to finish all the prereqs in spring 2020 so I have no choice but to take a gap year before applying for fall 2021 (they don’t take spring transfers for nursing). So the questions that arise from this are:

Should I send an application for Fall 2020 general admission at SJSU, get accepted, take a gap year, and then send the supplemental application for nursing for Fall 2021? Or should I just take the gap year after community college then send both apps for Fall 2021?

Thanks for all your help!

You ned to contact SJSU about deferring your enrollment along with the Nursing school. As far as I am aware, no Cal states allow you to defer so you will probably have to apply at the same time in 2021.
