I'm a senior in HS and I've already applied (and been accepted to) several colleges. I'm considering taking a gap year next year because I've had a really difficult HS experience as a result of medical problems (which will be resolved by the fall, so I could go to college in the fall if I had to). I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences.

What did you do? Do you think it was helpful? Was it too socially isolating? I'm looking to earn a little $ hopefully, and not spend any. College is too expensive. I'd also love to do something health-related, and probably domestic (seeing as travel is really expensive).

Also, I recently realized that I want to go into nursing. I like the colleges I've applied to a lot, but none of them have nursing programs. I'm going to volunteer at a hospital this spring and summer to help me decide. If I decide I'm 100% sure I want to become a nurse, should I reapply to nursing schools next fall (if I take a gap year) even though I really like the schools I've already been accepted to? Or should I just go to college and then plan on going to a 2nd degree program (or transferring)? Is reapplying another good reason to take a gap year?

BTW -- Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into nursing school?
