Gap Year & MCAT

So I'm planning on taking a gap year (currently sophomore) and wanted to make sure that taking the MCAT beginning of Spring Senior year would be okay? I'd apply summer of senior. Thanks!

Your MCAT score is good for 3 years under most circumstances.**

60% of medical schools will accept MCAT scores up to 3 years old at the time of either application/matriculation. (Different schools have different policies.) The remaining 40% will accept score that are 2 years old at the time of application.

Tl;dr-- you should be fine.

**This assuming you’ll be taking the 2015 MCAT and not the current version. Not all schools will accept the current MCAT version after the current application cycle.By the 2017-18 cycle, it appears very few schools will accept the current MCAT.
