Gap year to Bring GPA up and look more competitive on a college app.

Hello CC.

Many of you might think that this is a troll post, but I am completely serious.

Up until my junior year, i was a 3.9 student. However, during my junior year I took about 14 AP courses, and just could not handle the course load. My GPA plummeted to 3.75, and given my recent grades, is set to drop even more unless I get an A in AP Lang and Comp (which is mathematically impossible for me)...

I have realized that it is literally impossible for me to get my GPA up to even 3.8, by the time college admission time arrives....

Now. I skipped a couple of grades back in elementary and middle school, so I am about 2 years younger than my class.

My state has a dual enrollment option.

I was wondering whether or not I could dual enroll with a university (University of Minnesota), and take a gap year to get my GPA up for the Ivy Leagues, Stanford, and MIT.

So. Is it possible for my to attend a dual enrollment at a university, to bring my high school GPA up to my expected standards, while taking a gap year, in Minnesota?

Usually “gap year” refers to something you do after you graduate. What exactly do you mean in this context? Are you asking whether you could spend five years in high school instead of four? If so, I would recommend asking your guidance counselor. I don’t think dual enrollment has anything to do with it, because dual-enrollment students are still high school students taking classes for high school credit.
