Does anyone suggested taking a year off in between undergrad and Med school?

Depends on what you do with the time.

Some schools hand out deferrments like candy, while others want you to have a really good reason why you're putting off your enrollement. (this assumes you've been accepted).

If you applied and were rejected, then of course the scenario is different.

Finally if you graduate, take a year off and then apply, they are going to want to know why. This would be something to bring up in your interview.

Keep in mind that a lot of older (30+) do end up going back to school after years of doing something else. In my own M1 class there is a girl who has her Pharm D. and was a pharmacist for 3 years before going back to get her MD. In the class above me, there is a 50 year old man (almost as old as my dad) and a girl who a PA for 4 years before applying for med school.
