Doesn’t your academic history section ask why you weren’t enrolled during that period?

Just explain why you weren’t enrolled in school. Seems pretty self explanatory.
The UC app only allows 240 charracters in the gap statement while it allows 550 in the academic history additional information section.
Should I write my gap year statement there?
It would make sense that the gap statement be written in the spot designated for gap statements. Again, seems pretty self explanatory.
If it’s something really complicated where you might need more room, that might make sense. I have a lot of enrollment gaps and all are pretty well covered with “I was working during this time and was not enrolled in school.”
If you need more room than what that allows, then use the box on the “Other Academic History - Additional Information” page.
