I was thinking about doing a gap year in China after high school, because I really want to improve my Chinese to a native speaker level (I’m fluent, because my parents are from there), and I do really like the country. However, I’m not considering Chinese as a major of any kind in college, and this year may impact my college studies, especially if I want to become a doctor (with the schooling for that being so long). Should I take the gap year, or should I go straight to college?
Are you a senior? Are you applying to colleges now? Some kids i know, apply, get accepted and then advise they want to take a gap year but first, they have to state their case to the college and see if they can get approval to do so and have the college hold their spot.
@Fishnlines29 Yeah, I’m a senior, so I’m applying to colleges now. The gap year would be after I (hopefully lol) get accepted to college, so I would defer for a year. The college I want to go to said that was fine.
