Gap year?

So, I was thinking, dangerous, I know...

Anyway, I was planing on taking a gap year for religious activities. Except that I would want to take it at the end of my freshman year. From what I've read, this is fine, and I shouldn't have much trouble. But, I just realized that, would I want to tell admissions this? Or is that something that they don't want to hear. Thank you.

Don't worry about telling them now. You'd arrange it with MIT after you were admitted and attending. Of course, you're free to bring it up if you want -- it wouldn't be a negative factor -- but if you don't have a natural place to mention it, I wouldn't worry about it one way or the other.

Are you Mormon? I knew a couple of Mormon kids at MIT who took time off to do their missions, no problem.

Yep, that's it exactly.

Thank you very much.
