I’ve never heard of Garcia… Can someone tell me what projects they do?

I didn’t take it for granted… I put projected so I could get an idea of how it would help my application if I got in. For example, I also put projected for USNChO finalist but I wasn’t extremely confident that I would achieve that (which I did).

Does Garcia have a priority for ppl from NY area?

REJECTED !!!
Thought I was a lock to get in
Those who we lucky enuf to get in please post stats

if you didn’t get an email, does this mean you’re rejected?

Accepted. I live on LI. Received the email a little before 1:00.

I could go into my non-science related achievements, but those are pretty irrelevant.

Probably not. It means that you have wait until 3/20

I call BS on “withonevoice5”
He has a post dating back to 2009 in which he completed his junior year of high school.
So did he get left back four years in a row? Super Super Super Super senior

@harasNN Haha, my older brother used this account a while back. It’s for real. Screenshot: http://imgur.com/XJayVTC

Nice try though :P

Well did he get into Yale?

Nope. UPenn.

That’s creepy he didn’t get in…he was stacked. Upenns still obviously great tho

haven’t been emailed yet…good sign or not? When I see all those rejected, I am thinking that I will be rejected. I don’t have any prior lab experience, and I’m not from NY, so it’s not lookin’ up for me.

Guys, this program will have acceptance rates about 10-15 percent this year. They had like 320 apps last year (I believe), 60 accepted, and they said in the email that this year there were a record number of applicants!

CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE ACCEPTED! and to those rejected, you’re still freakin’ awesome, for real. you’ll do somethin’ cool this summer, I’m sure.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned this year, it’s to never take acceptance into any program for granted. There are scores of extremely qualified and talented people out there- and of course, no program can accept all of them. Especially the Garcia program since it can only accept around 60 people.

I can understand one or maybe even two delays under extreme circumstances, but three delays is kinda ridiculous.

Well, the Garcia website always said April 15. I’m not sure why they told applicants via email that they would commit to March 15, a whole month earlier.

You got an email today? What did it say?

part of today’s email “We are now looking at Friday, March 22 and Monday, March 25 as more plausible days for admissions decisions”

It’s interesting to me that they already admitted some students. I wonder how/why they determined who to admit already, if they haven’t completely reviewed all applications? Perhaps they only admitted those who they found to be extremely qualified, and only rejected those who they knew they would not accept even if the remaining applications to be reviewed were bad?

How many do you think they have admitted so far?

Lol! (10char)
