Gatech.edu application status

I submitted my application on October 30th and online my application is still "in process". Is there any speculation on how they handle the process? I recall hearing people say they submitted their application on the same day and have been accepted already. My application hasn't even been finished by admission status, apparently.

I am in the same situation and contacted the admissions office. They assured me that this status has nothing to do with your admissions status and you shouldn't be concerned. They will make some acceptances in November-December, but most decisions will be made Mid Juanuary through February, with another number coming out in March. No real reason for when different decisions come out although the trend appears to be that the best cantidates are accepted earliest.

I certainly wouldn't call myself outstanding. 31 ACT, 2150 composite SAT, and a high 3 point GPA (my school is on a weighted system, waiting for the end of the semester to find out my unweighted).

My EC's are what're worrying me most right now... I've played four sports, captained two of them, recieved an all-conference team award in one, done yearbook (designed the cover two years in a row), student council, worked at a daycamp for kids over the summer, and worked at a bike shop. I go to a fairly small Christian school so don't be too surprised. I guess this has just turned into a chances thread... keep it on topic but any comments on my chances are welcome. I'm going crazy over not knowing anything... just as any of my friends.

You look pretty good, I have two questions though:

1) Are you out of state or in state?

2) The four sports, are these four year commitments or a year or two to each? (Captaining two is very impressive though)

In state

I've played basketball for four (captained last two), baseball for four, soccer for two (captained for last one), and played flag football for two (before my school switched to soccer... best decision they've ever made for athletics).

I'm not an adcom, but I'd say you get good points for EC's which Tech does look at. Tech tends to lean more towards people that are also musically inclined, but you make up for it well in your excellence in athletics.

Im also still waiting. I really want to get that letter. Everyday I have been anticipating it.
ACT
Math: 35 Eng: 27

I applied sometime between the 26th-29th of Oct. Not sure on the exact day.

Still says in process.

I only know of one other person who has that much of a difference in standardized test sections. The math is excellent and the the english is still pretty good...just most people are even on both. Tech probably won't mind!

I had a 33 Math and 34 English. Science dragged me down, I just did it the wrong way altogether and didn't get a chance to finish it... so my composite is a 31 because of a 25 science.

I applied to GaTech, and I just received my confirmation email today, however when I go to check my status, it says my account may have not been uploaded into the system, or I entered an incorrect value (when I know the values I entered are correct). Should I be concerned?

No need to be concerned, it takes a little while to get into the system. If after about 2 weeks you havn't received a letter and it still doesn't work- I would contact the admissions office.

We didn't have to send any transcripts right???

nope, no transcripts

heh guess what i just found out... since i have a lot of college credit they wanted a college transcript from me... that i didnt find out about until today. So the fastest it can be mailed is by monday. I guess I'm no longer in the running for the presidential scholarship.

My application status has been changed to "Application Completed." Does anyone have a time frame on how this corresponds to reception of a decision?

Wax Theories, I believe that GATech separates applicants into tiers most likely based on SAT or GPA, giving the highest tier priority in terms of order of review. For instance, it appears that students with 1500s are reviewed first and notified of acceptance quickly. Then 1400s, then 1300s.

I don't think this should detract from your chances at all though; it simply means your application will be reviewed later.

Jan 18th and my app still says "In Process" bah :( On their website it says that this might mean they haven't received everything? All I sent in was test scores...

Pssh, im not sure how true that is. My scores were far from a 1500 and my application was confirmed the day after I sent it.

I have tried getting my GTID from the website but every time I try the site states that my information is not there in the database.

Is the GTID and the application ID the one and the same or is the GTID different.

Thanks.

Georgia Tech should have sent you the GT ID in the mail.
