Gatech Normal transfer or RETP ?

I'm currently studying in TX as international student. I don't really like my current university and thus I'm willing to transfer out to Gatech.

I'm in my sophomore year. So basically I want to transfer as junior. My gpa isn't 3.5+ at the moment and I doubt that if I try to transfer normally from my current university to gatech then I wont make it. I recently found out about the RETP.

So my question is... if I transfer to one of the RETP colleges and then transfer from there to Gatech, will it be a good idea ? Or should I apply for some non-competitive major at gatech and then if admitted, change my major ?

Thanks.

What is your GPA?

Well its 3.2 GPA

What major? You might be able to get in directly.

RETP is a definitely no quick process, you’d probably be better off just staying where you are and getting your GPA up unless you have a long way to go.

Switching to a more competitive major isn’t an option according to GT’s transfer page.

Computer Science or Engineering.

Btw… how much gpa / scores should I have to get to make my chances really high ?

Well, a 4.0 GPA would make your chances really high. But all you need is a 3.3 GPA (that’s not rounded. A 3.299999 is a rejection, 3.300000 is an acceptance). Also, make sure you have the following courses completed: <a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission;

It’s really easy to transfer into GT - much easier than freshman admissions.

Haahhhahaha…Nice1 CFB53B.

Well, there’s no way for 4.0 now. May be 3.3 or something by next semester hopefully.
I didn’t knew that transfers were easier than freshman.

Do they count gpa for my current university or all my previous collegework like CC ?

That’s assuming it’s much easier to get a 3.3 overall & math/science gpa (or 3.5 for OOS) with 30 college credits while fulfilling the course requirements. Is getting a 1900-2000 on the SAT and a 3.7 GPA in high school really that hard, comparatively? Some people get A’s in AP classes and fail the AP exams horribly. I’m not saying it’s not easier, but how much easier really?

All previous coursework in all college classes you’ve taken. All of this is made clear on their website.

So, can International student take RETP?

shyam30, not unless you transfer to one of the schools listed here:
