GaTech or RPI?

Which school is better for engineering, overall, more prestigious, more likely to be hired by a top company after graduating, more more recognized, etc.?

They are both top 20 programs (though slight edge to GaTech)... but I hope you will not make decision based on prestige alone...
you will have phenomenal opportunities at both.

I admit that I am going to make my decision on prestige if they are at the same level engineering-wise. Why not?

Well, check out what each school offers as ECs etc... apply to the one that offers more an atmosphere that you think would make you happier.

Lol, buddy, I ain't doing ECs in college. I'm going to class and then partying. I'm done with ECs for THE REST OF MY LIFE.

Because there is more to college than "prestige." How about picking a college because you feel it is the best fit for you... maybe you will love living in Atlanta... maybe you will hate it... maybe upstate NY is more exciting, maybe it bores you... who the heck knows... but please research the schools a little more and see which fits your real needs/desires/wants more... trust me, prestige is over-rated.... and the difference in prestige between these two excellent schools is pretty insignificant.

On what level is RPI and GaTech in terms of engineering compared to Ivy League engineering?

Well... I would say Cornell has AMAZING engineering...
Princeton and Georgia Tech are both way up there as well.
I would put RPI along with Penn & Columbia as very, very solid.

Well, if you're going to party/club, go to the ATL ho! :P

But, if you do go to GA Tech, bring a car and a cell phone (and maybe a gun for when you're in the ghetto). It's great living here: diverse environment, great city life, and it's fairly affordable.

georgia tech is probably slightly more prestigious.

that being said they are two completely different places.
