georgia tech sucks, pretty much everybody i know hated their experience at tech. not saying michigan’s easier, but the grade deflation at georgia tech is terrible.

They are comparable in engineering, but the overall college experience isn’t even close. Go to Michigan, if you can.

Assuming cost of attendance is not a major issue, I would recommend Michigan over Georgia Tech. For Engineering, they are roughly equal, but overall, Michigan is a much more well-rounded university.

Here’s a good question to ask yourself:

Do you want the humanities classes offered by your school to be offered by only one department, and to consist of “Philosophy, Literature, and _______ 1,” “Philosophy, Literature, and _______ 2” for engineers, etc.

OR

Do you want a university where your fellow students have varied interests and the humanities classes offered are as diverse as the students who attend that university?

If the second option appeals, UofM is the place for you :)

A friend’s son attends GA-Tech. He’s happy academically, but not happy socially. U Mich has both, great academics and social experience.

They’re pretty similarly ranked for Engineering. I would say you should visit both campuses. Ann Arbor a great city. If I were you and an Engineer, I would choose Umich just because of Ann Arbor and the fact that the University so strong is so many different fields. Gatech is only really a stand out in Engineering.

You’d be an Asian in the south(GA) at Georgia tech. The south is a different place completely from a northern city like Ann Arobr. You’d probably feel far more comfortable in Ann Arbor.

okay thanks guys but what about my chance of getting into UM. I am going to turn in my app before Nov.1 as well.

shoot dude, u could get in writing one word essays with ur stuff…

jtanman, what are you talking about? The OP has a 3.75 GPA and a 1400/2100 SAT. That would make Michigan a match, not a safety.

jtanman, evern the best students applying to Michigan must take the essays seriously.

sorry about that. jtanman is a friend, he was probably pretty bored…so you can just ignore him
