GaTech Transfer Question

Sigh… ㅠ_ㅠ

Mechanical engineering here but no decision yet.

I emailed my councilor about why I got the request for Spring grades and he told me that:

“That status and request for your updated official transcript with spring grades would indicate that, before we are able to make an admission decision on your application, we will need to receive and review your updated transcript with those final grades based on a competitive review of applicants for the upcoming term in your major.”

So June 15th will be the notification date for me I think lol

marty: ***…btw, did you apply for any other universities?

Ya, USC, Penn, and JHU. I think they will tell me sometime during May/beginning of June as well. I think my situation is different from all of yours because I don’t HAVE TO transfer, I just want to lol.

@marty: ya…I have also applied for UW…it will release in july lol…omgggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

@jenson123 University of Washington? or University of Wisconsin? I live right by UW-Seattle. Actually, I am looking right at the campus as I’m writing this…lol… I am guessing that you are talking about UW-Seattle, because UW seattle is like the only school that releases the decision in june/july. Also, the dual admission process is a pain… Ask questions about UW if you have any…lol And btw, I’ll be going to UMich for aerospace engineering… Although GATech is ranked 2nd for aerospace engineering (UMich 3rd), I would like more traditional college experience… okay… enough babbling…lol bye…

kevin: yes! UW seattle. I apply for UW because my parents do not want me to move out of this state. Is that good for studying EE in UW?(and I study CC in Auburn right now)

OOOH!! So you are a Washingtonian!! I am attending at Seattle Central CC. I did apply to UW as EE major too… I wanted to study aerospace engineering at UW, but there is just too much prerequisites that it is nearly impossible to complete them all in two years… That’s why I had to apply as an EE major for UW. I had an advisor at School of Engineering as a guest speaker in one of my engineering classes. His name is Dan Feetham (dfeetham@u.washington.edu). If you send him an email with your unofficial transcript, and ask for his honest opinion on your chance of getting into EE, he will give you his honest thoughts. Give that a shot!! And I heard Paul Allen donates a lot of money to EE department. So EE at UW probably has lots of resources, and EE department building is one of the finest and newest buildings at UW!! So definitely a good environment to study!! Lol, I thought you were out of state, so i was expecting more general questions… And I sincerely hope you get into georgia tech!!

Anyone get accepted that applied for mechanical engineering? This waiting is killing me.

@33mileroad: mechanical engineering here too but no decision yet… I applied on the first day the application were available with completed transcript when I applied. I dont know why they are taking so long… I thought March 15 was the today but no then April 15 was a disappointment again. Maybe May 15… I hope I didnt get put into the wait list like the last time I applied for spring 2013 semester.
GPA 3.985 with 55 outstate cc credit.

@Jaco123: I completed my transcript the first week too. I hope I get accepted. I too have 63 credit hours including Dif Eq., Calc 1,2, & 3 along with PHYS 1 & 2. I have a 4.0 as well, I don’t see why they have to keep putting it off. I guess for now we’ll just have to wait for May 15.

Anyone know where they are going to live if they get accepted? I don’t like the idea of the dorms to much…

Hey guys! I emailed my admission counselor whether decisions can be released before May 15th as long as an applicant’s file has been reviewed and this is the reply I got…

“Unfortunately, I cannot pin point an exact date of notification. Transfer Admission is a competitive process. We have a number of applicants in the midst of required courses; please note that the document deadline is June 1. Due to space constraints we are only allowed to enroll a certain number of students per academic term. If a transfer applicant meets all requirements, we strive to give them the fullest consideration possible. Our goal is to take the most competitive applicants within their degree program across our applicant pool for a term, which may result in a later decision for some applicants as await the completion of other applicant files.”

Does this mean that we might have to wait till everyone who applied to finish the required courses?? What about the applicants who have already received their decisions this Monday?? Kind of confused! :)

thgml: i guess the people who got offer on this monday is because they are outstanding…(they may get ~4.0 in all the classes,in state and the citizenship is american, etc)

I think they probably admit first to the majors that have more room or are less competitive and then admit for the majors that a lot of people want or are already overpacked. It would make sense based on the people who posted here about their decision already considering their major choices. I exclude the RETP program people from this because they seem to go through a different process.

Granted, this is all speculation mainly stemming from boredom.

I applied for biochemistry… I though it wouldn’t be as popular as engineering majors… I also think the ones who got their decisions are the ones who are outstanding…!!

Hi guys, I know my question may seem funny.

But what’s on the GA Tech transfer application?

Any extracurricular activities, essays, or something like that?

Or just the GPA and the courses are all that matter?

There is no essay for transfers. I forget about the rest.

By the way, did you guys finish all the recommended courses? I didn’t take physics which is a recommended course for my major… :P

@thgml, I am taking linear algebra and physics II right now…but since it ends on 6/17, GT will not count that I have finished those recommended courses :(
