@marty212: are you a georgia resident? why do you want to go to GT? I really hate quarter system because I need to take two chemistry class instead of taking one class under semester system…(also valid for physics, and math!) For me, taking class on CC is way cheaper than taking class in university(especially I am an International student…) But I would like to go for college because community college is a bit like high school…

I got waitlisted from Tech and I am not sure if I will be accepted from that list.
So I will probably have to go to UGA. Does anyone know the difficulty level of transferring into TECH through Computer Science and is it hard to get a good GPA at UGA.
I am also planning to take calc 1 and english 1 at Georgia Perimeter does that mean i just apply to their summer semester? and how will the school i go to for fall know i took classes there

@gpanda: I think we don’t know because all of us haven’t gotten the offer by GT yet…

I don’t receive any email so far… My app is complete… :(

@jenson123 :
I don’t think Gpanda applied for Transfer application.

@Gpanda : Did you apply for RD or Transfer?

@jenson

I want to go to a school like Georgia Tech cause VT is in the middle of nowhere and it ends up costing around the same. Plus, I have family that live in Georgia, but no one lives close to Virginia. I’m applying as an OOS student, but its nice to know someone related to me is in the state.

Besides the location argument, I like the structure of the GaTech CS program a lot better and it would let me go more into a position to learn about topics I want to learn.

Anyways, decisions will come when they come. Now that RD is out of the way, I am guessing they focus on transfer apps now.

@marty

Hope that we will see in August !!! 3/15 is coming!

@jbaek i was RD this year not transfer but i might transfer if I dont get accepted

Does anyone know if AP credits count toward the 30 hours needed to transfer to Georgia Tech and what do they mean by 2-course sequence required(for lab science) does that mean I have to take chem1 and then chem with lab next semester

@Gpanda I think they go by whatever it says on your college transcript when you are applying. So like, if whatever school you go to says its worth credit, they count it. I think a 2 course sequence means 2 lab science classes, but they don’t really care what sciences for CS it looks like. Personally, I have take physics 1 and 2 and chem 1 (I noticed my course is only equivalent to a chem elective, but whatever), but that is required for the college of engineering at Virginia Tech, so you probably don’t need that many courses.

Anyways, does anyone else still have that random period when you look at the application tab? (the window prior to looking at the application in, I think, oscar)

@marty: no… Hope that you guys get notification on 3/15(I will finish the required course on 3/19:(quarter system fault)! And then bless me on 4/15! :D

@marty can i submit transfer application as a freshman? because for comp sci major transfer i have to do Eng 1, Eng 2, Calc 1, Calc 2, a 2 course sequence lab class, comp sci, and a few electives to get 30 hours. And all of that is pretty impossible to finish in just one semester and the transfer app for Fall is due on march 1.

@Gpanda, no, the document deadline is on 6/1 . You still have plenty of time for finishing them in two semester! march 1 is the deadline for applying to GT. But you will not get any notification until you have finished all the required courses(like me) on 3/15.

If you have any question, feel free to ask me because I have asked them many times…

Hmm, they should ask me if they need any of the courses I am using for admission need to be evaluated right?

I found out by looking at the transfer equivalencies that GaTech has never evaluated any of VT’s CS courses, but I also might guess admissions figures someone taking a 3xxx level CS course at Virginia Tech will at least have the equivalent of a 1xxx level CS class there.

hmm linear algebra huh can i take that as freshman i know that UGA has a discrete mathematics class and in the description it says it teaches intro linear algebra. so if i take that will i still need to take a linear algebra course at TECH

and also does(CSCI 1301-1301L. 4 hours. 3 hours lecture and 2 hours lab per week. Introduction to Computing and Programming) that mean the class is 1 semester and lab another semester or are they same semester)

@Gpanda A lot of schools separate labs from their respective classes because they often offer numerous times for the labs rather than for the lecture. They also might have 2 different grades one for the lab and the other for the lecture. The lab and lecture should be taken in the same semester usually.

sigh, GT has asked me for course evaluation because my cc has changed the name of physics course. Hope that it does not take many times to do it…

hmm i am considered waitlisted if my application on buzzport said waitlist right?

@Marty i figured out what 2 lab science sequence was it means i have to take like for ex Physics 1 with lab 1 semester and then take physics 2 with lab next semester. it was on # 12 <a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission;

and does anyone know anything about the linear algebra thing

wait, you were already notified that you were wait listed? I thought they weren’t notifying until the 15th.

I am applying to transfer into mechanical engineering, but I only have a 3.425 so idk if I will get in … nervous! I haven’t taken linear algebra because my school doesn’t require it; however, I am already taking upper level classes like thero, fluids, etc… so it shouldn’t matter should it ???

@aooc i got waitlisted for Regular decision

Hope we ALL get in!!!
