I'm going to finish my BS Business this year. Next year, I'm willing to go for my second bachelor's degree in some engineering field preferably Electrical or Mechanical.

While studying I will also be working, so basically, I'm kind of stuck choosing which school I should apply to. My criteria for the school would be:
- Preferably Urban (atleast where I can land a decent Business job)
- The school has "good" ranking/reputation for the engineering programs
- Tuition fees (Excluding room&board, meals, books, etc) should be around 25,000 max :)

The only one I found was Georgia Tech, but TAMU & Purdue are also OK.
My GPA by the end of my current BS degree would be around 3.5. So what would be my options, for Electrical or Mechanical Engineering programs.

I know I'm asking a bit too much, but if you can please give me some advise.
Thanks :D

First, you need to find out which schools accept students for second bachelor’s degrees.

A list of schools with engineering degree programs can be found at [ABET -](http://www.abet.org) .

Thanks, anymore advise ?

Maybe you should start by finding that job.

Then once you are located, and you know how much free time you have for studying and attending class, you can look around at the educational institutions nearby and see what options are available. Don’t forget to look at the community colleges. You may be able to get the first two years of engineering coursework out of the way there for very little money, and the transfer agreements between that CC and a state U could make admission for the rest of the program a lot easier.

I agree that you need to find a JOB first…since you will likely have to go to school at a college that is NEAR your job…right???

It sounds like you plan on paying the $25k per year tuition out of your INCOME…is that right. Honestly, you’re going to find it difficult to earn enough with your B degree to get paid enough to pay $25k in tuition PLUS pay for your living expenses.

How much do you think you’ll be earning after you graduate with your B degree?

^^ I have taken a lot of math and science classes which would waive the first two years of study in the engineering discipline, so basically all I would do is get the remaining two years done while working full time. So CC isn’t an option for me.

^ As for my finances, I do have support from my parents. But I’m looking forward to in making around 40-45K hopefully with my B degree. And for universities, I’m mainly focusing on an “urban” university which isn’t overpriced that has “good” mechanical/electrical engineering program.

Btw how is Rutgers compared to Gatech & others ?

If your parents are good for the tuition/fees, what is stopping you from applying as a second BS student and attending full time while you work part-time to cover some of your living expenses?

Depending on your employer, you may not have a schedule that is compatible with college classwork. In any case, it would be all but impossible to combine a full courseload each semester with a full-time job. If you plan to be working full-time, you need to identify engineering programs where most of the coursework can be completed in the evenings or on weekends.

^ In most universities I would have to complete about 60 crh to get my second bachelor…so I’m planning to do it part-time while working full time.
So basically are there any other good school that I’m not aware of ??
