<p>I applied but I haven't heard anything yet. I had a friend that applied last year and won. He made it to the second round and he received that letter in April. He received his award letter in May.</p>

<p>what's next? You send them the acceptance letter and financial aid package of your college and a transcript of your grade. My friend told me that everyone who makes it to this round is almost always named a scholar. I think this is just the verification of eligibility process where they make sure your GPA is what you said it is and that you have a Pell Grant.</p>

<p>You need the pell grant to be eligible. If you don't qualify, you can't get it. I remember it being a requirement.</p>
