My siblings won the scholarship ( brother and step -sister). I am applying for it too and they both concur that 2 pages is the max and it would be nice to get to the max on some but not all. The interesting essays should be long ( or shall I say the essays you believe can be creative) at least 3/4 of a page. My siblings advised me and alot of my friends that we should really try to sell our selves and that the community service essays and leadership essays along with the second to last one are the most important. 1000 characters is too short and this may seem like alot for one scholarship but realize that this scholarship is basically equivalent to all your scholarships combined!

They expect you to write as much as you feel is necessary to tell your story. They'd rather read a short concise essay that's full of punch rather than a long essay that rambles in circles. Of course, you can always write longer essays with lots of vivid personal examples and still do well. It just depends on how you write. When I got the GMS, I wrote at least one page single-spaced for each essay, but every one of them was full of personal examples that helped show what I was writing. Think about it this way: there are usually 11,000 applicants each year and only 1,000 who are selected. You should feel confident that your essays will help you stand out, so keep that in mind as you write. Good luck!

Thanks for the prompt response guys! I've decided to write at least a page per question. Hopefully it won't take too long considering the deadline is in two weeks.
