Well stormshadow1093 - five days does seem plenty of time but look at my situation lol: I live about an hour drive away from DC, and it still took four days to get to me hahaha so wait just a little longer and relax. and Good Luck, I am sure you’ll get it.

what r ur stats mhamza…

I got that large white envelope in the mail this morning telling me that I’m a 2011 GMS Scholar. It hasn’t hit me yet, but it sure made my parents cry! Before you ask, here’s my stats:

Native American Male

Very nice stats! You seem like a very hard worker and truely deserve it… do u think an efc of 3000 may hurt my chances?

and what type of mail does it come by… is it fedex? or ups? or what? regular mail… how does it fit in the mail box?

urghhh… still havent got anything in the mail… and i live in ga… this must mean ive been rejecteed
ugh all hope is lost ■■■

My stats are as follows:
3.9 unweighted GPA (dont know the weighted)
6/343 for class rank
140 hours of community service
Cancer research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (all throughout junior and senior summer, and also senior year) believe me this took up LOADS of my time - but I am very close to have my name published in a scientific journal along with my mentors

NHS member, Glee! Club member, It’s Academic Club member, Odyssey club member, Teacher’s Assistant (I grade papers for freshmen), and Captain of the Science Olympiad team,
oh and overseas experience ( i lived abroad for abou five years and completed freshmen and sophomore years there)

and thats about it :D

its funny… i have the exact same stats as urs lol… just 3/345… researched during the summers… and president of clubs etc… and 150 hours of service… waiting has taught me that i am super impatient lol…

to the SCHOLARS who have received it…have u called them and received the message about ur social security number not being in their system…omg the wait is killing me… (asian in cali)

It came through USPS in a large white envelope. Inside is a folder with the congradulations letter, a certificate and a bunch of pamphlets. Interestingly, the envelope was postmarked on March 14th.

Hey guys, I have been following this thread since March and am now waiting just like everyone else. I am from NC and have yet to receive anything in the mail.
I contacted a person from GMS and this was their reply “At this time we’re still just letting all of the finalists know that ALL finalists will be contacted by a GMS representative before the end of the month of April regarding their updated application status.” So yeah… I hope tomorrow will be the day! :)

yea i had called an hour ago, and that was their response also lol…i wish it was priority shipping and it reaches a specific date for everyone!

Congrats to all the new Scholars and welcome to the GMS family!

Got an update for y’all. GMS says an e-mail will go out to all new 2011 Scholars. So, if you haven’t heard, look in your inbox in the next 24-48 hours.

@ Mhamza…Very true, but just like you i live about an hour from DC. I reside in Northern Virginia, but since I’m hispanic it’s coming all the way from California. The suspense is killing me. Also I called the GMS office today and the representative said “all mail has already been sent and as of this time your just going to have to wait, it may arrive this week or until the end of the month”…I just don’t get on how it would take over two weeks for any notification to arrive (especially have to wait till the end of the month if your a scholar). As of this point I’m assuming that all mail is being sent out to scholars and the rejections letters the following week. Just my assumption though, but still keeping the faith =)

Sigh… so if we get an e-mail we are golden if not/no mail… sad.

looking at responses of the gms offices… i do not think they are gonna send emails… dont worry ppl there is still hope left!

Haha yup keep the faith! in NC we were struct by tornadoes on Saturday and it left a lot of damages… it also delayed the mail. so yeah…

@indians. Oh, so wrong. But everything else I’ve said has panned out, right? Watch for the e-mails.
