Gates Millenium Scholarship 2012-2013

does anyone know when we’ll find out about this scholarship? sometime early march? late march?

Someone got a finalist letter!

Did you really? Email or postal letter?

I didn’t receive anything yet. An Asian male from VA got his finalist notification letter today.

How’d you find out?

@choyphin, how do you know?!! i thought they would start giving them out on the 8th. my heart is beating so fast. i’m nervous. good luck guys!!!

He posted a picture of himself with the finalist letter on Facebook. It was addressed from APIASF (the branch of Gates that deals with Asian Americans)

Oh, well congrats to him!!! Also, I am part of that branch BUT I didn’t apply for the APIASF scholarship itself. I only applied for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. Is that a problem? I’m scared. I thought they’re two completely different scholarships.

@cupcake Nope that’s fine.

Okay, thank you!

I got mine~Woo! I live in Northern California and couldn’t be happier

@gremlinZZ Wow congrats!!! I wonder what the order is for sending the emails/letters. What time did you receive yours?

Omg! :[ so excited!

Can you call in to see if I am a finalist?

Oh yeah, I remember reading somewhere that there’s a number that you can call for finalists info. Does anyone know?!

Do they inform people through email when they become finalist or they mail them a letter? Can someone please tell me the number?

According to past posts on this site, they email and send out a letter.

Which one they do first?

Yeah, like choyphin said, I just got mine today in the mail! It was a regular sized envelope that was kind of stuffed (it’ll have like 4 papers in it), so don’t get disheartened if you don’t see a giant yellow packet or whatever. It was from the race branch of the GMS, so, if you’re Asian you’ll see that it’ll be from APIASF. I have yet to receive an actual e-mail so I don’t think that comes first…

So yeah, Asian from Northern VA, got it today, good luck to everyone else!

CONGRATS! I’m guessing that they’re probably doing it by branches? Not sure…but I’m also a part of that branch. Starting to get a little freaked out now.
