To the last four poster’s, you were reading post’s from last year’s GMS applicants. There is a poster, ProudHusky who is known to be the Gates “guru” here on CC, and he checks the forums occasionally and will answer questions. He helped the scholars last year, my D is one. So if you post specific questions, I’m sure he will answer next time he logs on.

Hey, GA2012MOM, did your old screen name start working again?!

Hey Proud Huskey,

Can you PM me some tips on applying for scholarships. I am a first year student enrolled in a 4-year public university and I am majoring in chemical engineering.

Thanks.

Happy Holidays.

Proud Husky, can you PM me as well. I tried to PM you, but it said that your inbox was full.

Ok so for the scholarship you need a nominator and a recommender. A nominator can be counselor/teacher etc. Can the recommender also be a teacher? Or does he/she have to be outside of school (job or community service)

deeboggle, yes, they can both be teachers.

How much would it help if you had a different nominator and recommender?

JteH, they want as much information about you as they can gather, so using two different people will give them two different perspectives of you. Using the same person would be rather redundant.

Sorry my PM inbox has been full. I try and get on CC when I can, but that happens fairly infrequently. I respond more quickly to email if you want to shoot me any specific questions. In the meantime, I’ll send you all a few tips that will hopefully be helpful for you.

@GA2012MOM - Thanks for being so willing to answer the GMS questions. Glad to haer that your D got the GMS last year. You are great!

Proud Husky, can you also pm me the tip?
