Gates Millennium Scholarship - 2008-2009

Here you go:

You have been selected to advance to the second phase of the Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) scholarship selection process. To verify your eligibility for further consideration, we must receive the following documents no later than April 11, 2008:

· A copy of your Admission Acceptance Letter from the college or university you plan to attend on a full-time basis in the fall of 2008. Please see the enclosed Frequently Asked Questions documents for additional information.

· An official copy of your High School Transcript (which must include grades through the first half of the 12th grade year on an unweighted 4.0 grading scale) or your GED certificate.

· A copy of your School Profile (a document containing standard data about the school such as the number of students, school type, grading scale, etc).

· The Cumulative Unweighted GPA Form (Sent by postal mail). Please have your guidance counselor complete the enclosed GPA conversion form even if your cumulative unweighted GPA is listed on your transcript. The signed form serves as verification of your unweighted cumulative GPA.

· A copy of your entire Student Aid Report (SAR). This document will be mailed to you upon completion of your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or will be available online if you filed electronically.

If you have not already done so, you must file the U.S. Department of Education Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form immediately. We recommend that you file the FAFSA form electronically for faster processing and response time. The form is available at FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

As soon as each document becomes available, please FAX one copy of each to the UNCF/GMS program office at (703) 205-2079. This correspondence was also sent to you by postal mail; therefore, you will receive the Unweighted Cumulative GPA Form referenced above by mail. If you do not receive this document, please contact the GMS program office at 1-877-690-GMSP (4677) to request a copy. Again, all documents must be submitted as soon as possible and received in the UNCF/GMS office no later than Friday, April 11, 2008.

You will be notified if you are selected as a Gates Scholar subsequent to a review of the requested documents. In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact the GMS program office at 1-877-690-GMSP (4677).

Ok, so did every African American get their email at 11:54 AM?

I think each minority group sent it out at different times. Yesterday hispanics got it and today african americans. Still nothing yet on asians

Come On Asians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just selected as a KFC Scholar semi but i was totally hoping for the Gates!!! please please please please please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok guys, I called GMS and here's hope for some of you:

Semi-finalists will be given an email OR a letter through the mail notifying them about their status, NOT BOTH. So if you haven't gotten an email, then there's still hope that you'll get something from the mail. :)

can someones thats african american call and find out if theyve sent all the notification for african americans becos i called and the lady was getting smart wit me and told me that every one will know by april 11 and i should just wait.

Not all African Americans have been notified. Some will be notified by email or by mail, but not both. The applicants who haven't received an email today might receive something in the mail from GMS this week.

so dat means that us (african americans)that havent gotten notified yet still have a chance of being semifinalists?right

Yup, that's right.

i hope both of us in particular get it! do u think we should know by the end of this week? or it might be later

Thanks! I think we should know this week since they sent the letters today.

I hoping they will send out the info for Asians tomorrow
