haha seriously- i am at school right now, and there is no way I am going to do my calc homework on a day like this

It's 1:30 in the morning. Bleh. I really hope today is the day I hear from them. Another day of waiting...

good luck to everyone who's waiting for the email today!!!

I'm from Kansas. I wonder if the decision for the winners will be made as soon as we send in the material or do we have to wait until April 15 to find out.

My DD found out this morning she is a finalist. She is african american, and the e-mail was at 8:44 a.m. this morning, for those who are still waiting. Congratulations all!

Congrats GAMom!!! Don't give up hope y'all, they're still sending them out!

hamman

did u speak with a rep to see if they are still sending them out

no, I did not but people seems to still be receiving emails notifying that they're finalists. It's too early to say that they have stopped

im being very patient now.:)

suyao, you on spring break right now?

no. i have one week left till spring bling.lol it starts on monday

Ok guys ... question ...

The documents they requested from finalists seem to be a verification of what was stated in our application ... ergo, assuming one hasn't lied on their application about GPA/Classes/ECs ... and he/she is, in fact, Pell Grant eligible, is he/she guaranteed the scholarship?

I don't think so... I think I read some posts from last year where someone was really disappointed for not winning even though they got a 3.7 GPA and EFC 0. I think they're going to look at us even more closely but we are in no way guaranteed this scholarship

ahh ... so must put celebrations at hold ... at least for a couple weeks more :)

Ah God! I need this scholarship!

I've seen many responses from Asians as well a African Americans. I'm not sure but from what I've looked through I haven't seen anything from Hispanics receiving the Gates scholarship yet. I have not yet received a response and I am wondering if its because HSF has taken longer. If there are any Hispanics who have received any kind of response whether good or bad, please post.

@ sosacrl

I think the Hispanics have already been notified. If I'm not mistaken, the first people (memberofthevrwc and aladdinAWNW) to find out and post in this thread were Hispanic.

yeah hispanics were the first to post..my friend is hispanic and didnt receive anything either so he called to see if they were finish and the man said they will continue sending out notices until late next week...so hold on there (that is for hispanics as far as I know)

i really hope african americans continue sending out positive letters

^^ so do i....some of my close friends haven't heard anything; either positive or negative and i did. so its bittersweet for me...

I'm hispanic and I have not received anything...but I hope I will soon let it be good or bad. I'm so nervous!!!

sosacrl what state are you from???
