aww, i looked at facebook groups for current scholars and there are pics of the GMS acceptance party or whatever you call and it looks like so much fun :)

wow, this is lame, i turned it in but late
idk if i should curse at somebody or blame myself and sulk for the next couple of minutes.

ill be sulking for the next couple of minutes hitting f5 on this page looking for some encouragement

eeemmad... did they accept it?

they said they accepted it but the time stamp was like 12:14; and some seconds

and from what other people have been posting they says they wont accept or look at anything past 11:59 on the 14th

if it said accepted i guess all you can do is hope they take it... tomorrow call them up and ask if they accepted (dont mention the time issue just tell them that you want to make sure it was submitted)

thanks, that gives me a little hope, and do i call GMSP or the particular ethnicity i am in

call for the particular ethnicity you are

thanks, then i guess, thats what i will do

if you guys check ur status on the phone, and when you put in your social security--does it say invalid?

When I put in my social security, it asked for my birthday and when I put it in, it said they don't have me in their records. :/

I guess they're not done processing the apps.

Ok I have a dilemna---

So yesterday, I finished my app and everything at 8 right?
So before I can click submit, the system crash down on me.
So I wait. and wait. and wait. The site never went back up for me.
So finally at 11:30, I called GMS United Negro hotline (though I'm not black but I thought they were the main number)
A rather abrupt lady, ask for my social security before I could say anything. (I don't know if she was rude or she was in a hurry to help other applicants.)
Anyways, I gave her my social security, but she never allow me the chance to confirm it. So after like 5 minutes, she came back on the line and said "Ok, you're in" and "bye bye" to me.

The thing is...
1) I don't know even if she had the right social #
2) Can a GMS submit your application for you?

This sucks really. I don't know if I should accept it as a failure and get on with my life, or pray by some miracle, she was able to get my right SS# and submit it in. But I don't want to hope for something that haven't been submit in, you know what I mean?

Anyways...after 30 minutes of talking with a GMS representative...all I get was "Wait for the letter in March."

....I don't know what to do now...Lesson learned....

i kinda had the same problem...i submitted mine on sunday (thank god) but yesterday when i checked my recommender status said In Progress, i called GMS SS and name. then i guess she reviewed my app and said my recommender signed it electronically and everything but didnt press submit so she said she did it for me.

i tried calling their automated system... i got to the point where i entered my SS and birthday and it then threw me into a nasty loop that kept going back to the main menu

yea, they should of left the status option available online

This is an awesome scholarship.

I don't wanna sound snooty, but if they're gonna be this nice--why not go all the way?

Like being able to check that your application has been successful submit the very least....

This really frustrates me that I have to wait until March to know that my application was never submitted.

aubrey, just wait a couple more days, I'm sure the phone status check will get updated by then

The GMS representative said that I have to wait until March with the rest of the applicant ='[

That sucks. Can't they look in the computer and see if you were submitted?

nope. not for ANY body. not even the ppl that work there themselves.

anyways i realize this forum is not gonna be active for a while.
