<p>I am applying for 8 schools which require me to use the Gateway to Prep School. I am not at all familiar with this site. I I have made an account there and want to complete part 1 i.e candidate profile. Do I have to fill out just 1 candidate profile for all the schools or different candidate profiles for each school ? And also can anyone help me with the signature part on the candidate profile ? Is it possible for me to submit the candidate profile and the essays through the gateway to prep school but submit the teacher recommendations by mail ? Thanks in advance. :) </p>
<p>It’s been a while since my kid used Gateway portal, but I thought that one of the main reasons it is used is so that you don’t have to do multiple candidate profiles for each school.</p>
<p>You can create One candidate profile and send it to all schools. Also, you can copy the profile created and modify it to send to other schools. Signature part is that you type in your name and click boxes, which serves as your signature. Yes the teacher can send recommendation by mail, email, fax, etc directly to the 8 schools. You just won’t be able to track it within gateway to prep. </p>
<p>And some schools have their entire application on Gateway; others have part of their application on Gateway (like the profile and teacher recs), but prat of it on their own website-- so just check carefully for each school. Using Gateway can actually be easier for teachers to do their recs, though, rather than printing out individual letters and mailing them, so I’m not quite sure why you would choose to ask them to mail them (unless THEY want to).</p>

The reason I am asking if my teachers can mail their recs is because where I live , internet is not easily accessible for everyone . So , my teachers might not do their recs through gateway to prep school. If they do it through gateway to prep school, will they have to do just one rec or separate rec for each school ? </p>
<p>One recommendation will cover all the schools.</p>

<p>So DS sent teacher recs through Gateway to Prep Schools. They were sent four days ago to 5 or 6 different teachers/references. However, on his Gateway rec checklist screen it still says “Request Sent”. Not a single one says “Request Approved” as of yet. Does anyone have experience with this? Shouldn’t the teachers have approved his requests by now? I am assuming “Request Approved” simply means they received it and agree to fill it out, but maybe not. I can not find this information on the Gateway website. We hate to contact references again since filling out the form is suppose to be confidential between teacher and schools. However, is this a sign they are not in receipt?</p>
When using Gateway, are the schools able to see how many schools the candidate has applied to? Thank you.
Nope, at least that wasn’t the case two years ago… Doubt anything has changed.
Yes, you only fill out one candidate profile and then write multiple essays. (different ones for different schools)
