Gay AA Transferring to LBGT Friendly School

Hi am a gay AA looking to transfer to a transfer friendly and LBGT friendly schoool. I am going to a California CC and want major in business/business econ/financial econ. I start my first year off CC this summer quarter.

Colleges I'm looking at:
Brown
Caltech
Columbia
Cornell
Georgetown
UCB
UCD
UCI
UCLA
UCSD
USC

And your question is?

Are not so much transfer-friendly.

The UCs you’ve listed are mostly both, although UCSC is famous as the most LGBTQ-friendly of the lot; if it offers business or you’re ok with econ, you should apply.

If you are considering aiming for graduate school in economics, or a master’s degree program in financial engineering, it is a good idea to complete the lower division math requirements for the math or statistics major, as well as the usual requirements for the economics or business major.

Use [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to determine what courses you should take at the community college to prepare for transfer to a UC in your desired major.

What are some other transfer friendly colleges?

NYU is probably one of the most LGBT friendly schools in the US; it’s currently ranked as the most LGBT friendly school in the US by Huffpost.

Other good LGBT schools: Emory, UPenn, Stanford, UMich, Dartmouth, UChicago, Amherst, GW, Tufts, UW-Madison, Rice to name a few.

Most transfer-friendly schools are state universities, particularly those in the same state as your community college (which means UC and CSU if you are attending a California community college).

Note that most state universities are not all that generous with financial aid to out of state students, though some have low list prices (such as Minnesota, whose out of state list price is about the same as UC in state list price). If cost and financial aid are concerns, try the net price calculators on your prospective transfer target schools’ web sites.

I second that Emory is very LGBT friendly.

Can I have some more transfer friendly ones. I know Stanford takes a good amount of students from CCs, but do any colleges like Tufts, U Penn, and Dartmouth do that as well?

You are obviously chasing prestige. It might be incredibly difficult to transfer from a CC to such schools.

Prestige doesn’t really matter to me. I just want to go to a liberal minded school where I will be accepted at.

Then in that case, there are tons of extremely liberal LAC that will much easier to transfer into.
