hey, i'm a college senior and emory is one of my top choices RD. i'm wondering what the general attitude towards gays and lesbians is at emory, based solely on the feel on the campus and not its location in a large city.. and if there are a small or large amount of gays/lesbians at emory? thanks!

I am an adult who spent time at Emory Law School. Although I am a married father,I can tell you that Emory is very Gay friendly and about 35% Jewish students. Emory undergrad has an all gay fraternity;and Atlanta is quite accepting of all lifestyles.

Emory University is not a Southern culture school.Majority of students are from the Northeastern U.S. and are very hard-working,competitive,pre-professional types. Lots of medical, law and business students.

First of all, there is no all gay fraternity. There may be a fraternity that has members who are openly gay, but there is no "gay fraternity" Second of all, 8% of UGs are from New England, 20% are from the mid atlantic states. 40% are from the South. 72% are from somewhere other than the Northeast.

Emory College is a liberal arts school, and although the majority of students do eventually go to grauate school, the majority is not "pre-professional." There is a large percentage that are, however.

Generally, Emory students are accepting of different lifestyles, but there is not a huge homosexual population that is well-known and defined, like I have heard (but have never seen, admittedly) exists at some other schools. You don't see gay pride stickers everywhere you go. There is a subculture, but it's not all-encompassing of their lives. I do know some students who are, gay, but that doesn't define them. Emory students look at people for who they are; they don't generalize based upon sexual orientation, race, etc. You're not going to get a label as "gay." People just don't care.

The campus is generally liberal, but there is a conservative presence, and all views are respected, from what I've seen.
