what's the LGBT life like at stanford? like is it a very conservative place? do you (a current student) see same sex couples sometimes? is it hard to find a date if you're lgbt?

Just in my visit there, I saw two gay couples.

Considering that Stanford is left-leaning, and it's in a left-leaning area, in a left-leaning state (not to mention being close to a very left-leaning city that is "known" for having a high number of same-sex couples (though untrue)), I would say that LGBT life at Stanford is just fine. =)

2? wow, lol haha well were they guys? and were they freshmen, sophs, juniors etc.? (what race, if you do'nt mind me asking.)

Stanford is pretty near San Fran, which is one of the most accepting cities in the country. It is definitely more of a leftish campus. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Pretty much anywhere you go to college (given that you aren't looking at, say, grove city or brigham young), you will be able to find a sizable gay community.

They were two guy couples. I don't think they were freshmen -- they seemed to be sophomores or juniors. They were white.

Agreed. Also, though, even schools not known for their conservatism might not be so "welcoming" for gays. For example, you probably won't find an open community of gays at a university like Humdboldt State. From what I've seen, the very open-and-out-there gay communities tend to be at the left-leaning campuses such as Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, etc.
