It seems like a lot of other schools have current students go on the 2012 facebook groups and start a thread (stanford, yale, columbia, etc), but no luck on Cornell's page yet. I just wanted to know, how is it? Do LGBT people on campus feel like they have stick to themselves to "fit in"? Or is the general attitude around campus accepting?

this campus is incredibly liberal...you should have no concerns whatsoever

I don't think it is a problem either. You can find gay students all over campus in a multitude of social settings -- from fraternity houses to the vegan co-ops. A gay roommate of mine purposely stayed away from the more established 'gay scene', just because (as on a lot of campuses, it seems) he found it mostly filled with graduate students trying to prey on undergrads. That said, every student's experience is different, and there's a pretty strong support network of peer and professional counselors on campus.

I also would say that Cornellians are going to be a bit more... passive... towards sexuality issues than a place like Columbia or Yale. I don't think you will find a student at Cornell claiming to have aborted herself multiple times over the last year in the name of art... that Yalie is crazy.

okay, that's good to know. I don't think I would put myself into the "gay scene" either. I'm not as open about my sexuality as those people are. So even in frats, frat parties (or whatever the main party/social scene at Cornell), people are pretty open-minded?
