gay life at Hamilton

Hi everyone,

I am fairly certain I will be applying ED to Hamilton College. I am gay and I have been unable to find much information about the lgbt community at Hamilton. If anyone has any information about being gay at Hamilton, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

If gay life is so important to you then Vassar would be a better option. Hamilton is accepting, but has not too many LGBT people because of its student body size- 1600 students.

Thanks

Does anyone else have any information about the gay community?

Hey hijk001! I’m in the same boat as you - gay and applying to Hamilton ED. Agreed that any information about the LGBT community would be super helpful!!

Well I am definitely glad to see another gay person applying ed to hamilton! haha

When we visited Hamilton it was the “club fair” which included interest group(s) for LGBT students and for a small school there appeared to be a significant cohort. Perhaps you can find out about related interest groups at Hamilton and compare to other schools of interest to you.

Just visited Hamilton. On the front page of the student paper there were photos of students who were coming out and hundreds of students who were “allys”(meaning they are supportive of their fellow gay students). It seems Hamilton is very supportive of the LGBT comunity.

As a student at Hamilton, I can say that the LGBT community is very well represented on campus. The Rainbow Alliance is very active, hosting major campus events (we had a well-attended drag show last week) and taking trips to various parts of the country. As 145bluz said, the rest of the community is very supportive. It’s a great environment to live in.
