hey guys :) so i've been looking into UVA for a while now, but i've seen a lot of thing that say that gay life/acceptance/events at UVA are questionable. i was wondering if anyone on here might have some honest two cents on the subject? i hope that people are wrong, but it's a southern school and all, so who knows... thanks guys!

Being gay at UVA is fine. People are extremely open-minded. As a gay Latino student, I never faced any type of discrimination and never felt uncomfortable about being open about it. There are ton of gay students as well, I personally did not join QSU, but that was because the people and I didn’t click, but a lot of gay students do. UVA might be a southern school, but most of its students are from NOVA and the Northeast.

okay thanks! anyone else have any contributions?

I would say that it’s generally accepted. I really haven’t encountered any discrimination, but it may be different for someone who is more flamboyant (not that there is anything wrong with that). There have been a series of articles in the Cav Daily that you should check out. It’s a 3 part series called “Gay at UVA” and they were all on the front cover. Good luck! You can message me with any questions you have.
