Gay Life?

Hey guys! I just finished applying to the UT at Austin. I'm very excited to hear back from them! ... Eventually :)

Something Id like to know about the UT is how the gay life is on campus. Are gay people accepted? Are there a lot of gay people? Do people seem to care? This ultimately has a lot to do with my decision. I wouldn't attend a university that isn't accepting of gay people.

Thanks for all input :)

Man people at UT are open minded, plain and simple. Almost everyone at UT is very accepting and as long as your not rude, you’ll have no problem getting along with people

Yeah, there’s really nothing to worry about. Even the more conservative students here seem to be pretty accepting. There are many gay-themed organizations that I’ve seen, such as StandOut, QPOCA, the Queer Students Association, and so on. They have various events throughout the year and are pretty visible on campus.

UT is one of the more liberal schools in Texas, and it has a gay fraternity as well!

Austin in general is gay friendly as well, despite Texas being a “red state”. “Keep Austin Weird” is probably why. You don’t need to worry about discrimination at UT!
