Gay Life

How is the gay life at cornell?

@anonymous886 I was about to post the same thing! Curious to see what people respond

I expect that most people will be tolerant and understanding of gay students, but there of course will be students who have homophobia.

Again, most students will think that someone’s preference is private and personal and will not judge someone based on that.

I recently looked that up on some rankings and I did find Cornell on a list by Campus Pride. Here’s the link [Top 25 LGBT-Friendly Colleges And Universities As Ranked By Campus Pride Index](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>Top 25 LGBT-Friendly Colleges And Universities As Ranked By Campus Pride Index | HuffPost Voices)

I do agree with lboss1223, there will always be some homophobes wherever you go.

I’m not gay, so I can’t tell you from experience, but there’s some recent-ish articles from the Daily Sun that could maybe provide insight:

To find out more about gay life visit the Haven Cornell Facebook page. Haven is Cornell’s LGBT Student Union. Also, any other gay culture-related questions you can pm Terence Looi on Facebook! Good luck with decisions.

I think it would really only be an issue if you wanted to join a fraternity, and even then, some fraternities have openly gay members.

In general, nobody will discriminate against you. This is Cornell, not Liberty University. And with at least 7% of the population being gay, there’s plenty of potential partners for you and stuff. You’ll just have to look harder.

7% isn’t bad at all!
