Hi guys, what's the gay community like at Northwestern?
How do the frats feel about gay guys, and is there a particular dorm that's more "gay-friendly" than the others?

Sites like ************** rate the "opposite sex" but could you tell me how attractive guys are at NU?

Fairly sizable gay population (from the straight guy’s perspective) thanks to the big theatre and film community that tend to attract them. NU is a welcoming environment, most fraternities don’t care, and you can easily avoid any one that does. Dorms? Nothing specific, unless you count the theatre-specific Jones RC but even that is slightly generalizing.

I can’t speak too much to the attractiveness side of things, but the distribution seems pretty similar to where I grew up (Southern California).

It’s always hard to generalize but the gays here are pretty nice in general. A lot still feel the need to broadcast their gayness to the world but it’s not as bad as NYU. I guess people are still at different points of the coming out stages, which is fine. Still, there are many who are pretty mature. Overall though, Harvard has the highest concentration of classy mature gay guys you will find anywhere, unless you consider grad students and older men part of your dating pool, which some do.

I’m personally not in theater but I noticed theater gays tend to dislike each other. However, since they are so good at acting, they’re more passive aggressive than outright hostile with each other, so they’re kind of like a sorority in that sense :)

There is no dorm that is more gay-friendly than another. Generally, if you’re low-key, you will be fine anywhere. Frats are friendlier to gay guys than girls are. If you’re gay but not obvious, girls get annoyed because they think you’re not into them. Conversely, many girls don’t find some gay guys attractive (if they make this judgment without knowing the other person is gay or not), so that’s why many of these gay guys try to make it as obvious as possible that they’re gay so they don’t feel “rejected” by these girls so to speak.

The frats are generally very accepting of gay guys. I know several frats with gay members. As for the most gay friendly dorm, I would go with Willard.
