Gay Students in a Jesuit University

Fordham Lincoln Center is one of the schools I am seriously considering attending next fall. However, one thing that is holding me back a little bit is my concerns that a school like Fordham would not exactly be the most welcoming place for a gay student and whether or not there are many gays "on campus" in the first place. If anyone could lend better insight on this issue i would really appreciate it.

Well, my D has a few gay friends at the Rose Hill Campus and they don't seem to be having any problems at all

The Jesuits will suprise you- at my Ds HS, there are several openly gay teachers- no biggy at all

thanks but if anyone has any first hand information or is actually a gay fordham student, specifically from lc, i would really appreciate some input

Heh, you must've not gotten the memo about LC, yankee5752. Truth is, there are many gay people in LC. We are a very gay-positive campus and the atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming. You'd be very comfortable here. The gay community is outspoken, visible, and proud of who they are.

I have several gay friends, and I know quite a lot of gay acquaintances. If you're afraid of being the odd one out for being who you are at LC, you should spend merely a day here and you'll see that such a notion is ridiculous. Fordham is quite liberal in this area. There are some conservatives running around, but they're so few and far in between that you'll hardly notice. You'd have no problems fitting in whatsoever, I can vouch for that.
