GC sends activity sheet?

I spoke with my guidance counselor today, and when I asked her about sending an activity sheet/resume separately after submitting the online application, she said that I could give it to her and she would send that with everything else (transcript, recommendations, etc). Does anybody else's school do this?

It should be a standard practice by all guidance counselors to do this. Not all colleges require or want letters of recommendation by either guidance counselors or teachers. If a college wants a letter of recommendation from your guidance counselor, they will sometimes provide an official school form that the GC must fill out. Even in these cases, however, it does not hurt to provide a so-called "resume" or more comprehensive activities sheet that covers non-classrom activities, e.g., school activities, athletic participation, church youth group, community service, outside music/instrument involvement/talent, paid work activities, travel experiences, etc. Attention should be paid to any EC's with honors/awards.

Many schools will accept such activity sheets from either the GC and the student applicant. If you know that your GC will be including in his/her recommendation packet, you do not need to duplicate with your application supplement. I'd keep the resume to 3 pages or less.

thanks for the reply!
