How long does it usually take your GC to mail out your transcripts and on file recommendations? Over a week?

It really depends on your guidance counselor. My guidance counselor went out and sent everything in the day after I gave her a GC application form...

it also depends on what time of the year you turn it in. towards the beginning of the school year? very fast, maybe a week tops. but now? much longer i would say.

My guidance office states that there's a two week turnaround on apps, but they also say that if you want your materials sent out before Christmas break, you have to request it before Thanksgiving Break. It definitely depends on when you turn it in. Earlier=faster

Thanks. It took 8 days, which I thought might be long, but apparently that's just the way it is.

My daughter's high school says they need 20 school days to send out transcript and counselor recommendations. They actually took a few days longer than that. 8 days sounds pretty good to me.

My son gave all his applications and other materials to his guidance counselor at the beginning of November. As of yesterday, the guidance counselor has not mailed out one application. Apparently he is waiting for the teacher recommendations which have not been completed as yet by my son's selected teachers. He gave the recommendation forms to them at the end of October. The teachers told my son they would try to get them out by Thanksgiving. Should I get involved in this?
Thanks for any advice. A worried Mom

Maybe your son could follow up with a polite reminder to his teachers? Since they told him they'd aim for Thanksgiving they're not late at this point. If things drag on you might bring it up to the CG. It seems like schools handle the app process differently. In my d's school CG just handles transcript and counselor recommendation but other recs go directly from the teacher to the target school (kids provide stamped addressed envelops.)
