GCE A level credit

The UC website states the following about how A levels can obtain credit in the UC system.

“UC grants 12 quarter (8 semester) units of credit”.
“This credit toward UC graduation requirements may receive elective credit only, or specific subject credit and/or credit toward general education/breadth requirements, as determined by a UC campus.”.

The Economics department clearly states on their website that I can use my A levels in Mathematics and Economics to fulfil Math 1A, Math 1B, the Economics calculus prerequisite, Econ 1 and the Introductory Economics prerequisite.

The Maths department does not state its policy on A level credit. Does anyone now what the Maths department’s policy is on A level credit?

Also, what does the UC website mean by “elective credit”? Does that mean credit towards major prerequisites?
