Is there a group of intelligent geeks/techies at Cornell who love Computer Science?

ACSU? 10 chars

Well there's that one guy who's going on "Beauty and the Geek" from Cornell who's majoring in comp sci...

Oh, yes, you will certainly find geeks of all kinds at Cornell. ;) When I first stepped onto campus freshman year, I was originally surprised by the lack of people who fit the geek stereotype. For instance, most of the engineers I knew were all Operations Research majors. They were very laid back and had no real interest in math/computer science. Then a friend once took me to Duffield (an engineering building). Completely different world. I never really go to the Engineering Quad, but if you're looking for tech geeks, you'll find them there. I think it would be correct to say that Engineering holds the vast majority of computer geniuses--it's not just a stereotype; it's true. This semester, I'm also taking a class called Networks. Lots of engineers and Information Science majors are taking this class, so there are tons of computer experts there. I think the only reason why I never really came across tech geniuses before was simply because I never took any classes related to technology before this year.

Basically, if you're looking for people who know a lot about technology, you won't have a problem finding them, especially if you're majoring in a field like Computer Science. You won't have a problem finding your niche. :)

I want to know if there are any hot girls Cornell. I don't expect Miami quality but ....

Haha. As a girl myself, I must say, Cornell isn't known for particularly gorgeous girls, but they certainly exist here. A lot of the pretty girls are in the Greek system, so that's just something to keep in mind. Of course, there are pretty non-sorority girls as well, but they're just a little harder to find. I think one reason for the difference is because many people who go Greek are pretty well-known on campus since they go out a lot and meet people. Many non-Greek girls don't go out as much and have a smaller circle of friends; thus, people don't know as much about pretty girls who aren't in sororities. But anyway, to answer your question simply: yes, there are hot girls at Cornell.

^ agreed with everything she said. It's def not miami but they are here...just not in that high of a ratio. N if u join a frat n mix w/ sororities ur fine.

Any? Yes. Many? No.

I wonder is Cornellpride10 hot?

--terrible grammar

^total creeper

Lucaskhan

I was making friendly conversation.

haha you guys are hilarious

Lol. Of course, I'm stunningly beautiful. Hotter than Rihanna, Scarlett Johansson, and Angelina Jolie combined. ;)

cornellpride10, thats amazing lol.

My imagination is running wild.

i can definatly see this thread showing up on the news for resulting in some devistating hookup

speaking of geeks. . . does anyone know of universities that have a similar "geek culture" as MIT, Carnegie Mellon, CalTech, Harvey Mudd. . . for instance. Am interested in Computer Science & Physics as a possible double major. The Princeton Review does not have a "geekest" school category! Thanks

Those are good places to start. At that level of academics, I would include Cornell and JHU as well. Cornell has tons of frat kids, but also tons of geeks.

Also -- you aren't going to go wrong at any of the Big 10 engineering schools. Or Berkeley.

A notch down I would include Case Western, RPI, RIT, WPI, and the like.
