Does USC have students who could be described as intelligent geeks or techies?
I mean kids who are passionate about computers.

Yes. They certainly exist. I know of one student in Marks Hall who kept getting locked out of his room, so he set up an electronic locking system that used a code to get into his dorm room. The key still works, so housing is happy, but he can get in if he forgets his key. If you want geeks, you can find them.

hmm i wonder if i can get him to rig one up for me should i be accepted

there are lots of smart engineering students at USC

There are definately geeks and gadgets freaks at USC....but even then they are quite different in the sense they arnt always stuck at home playing video games and never leave....they seem to be outgoing and blend in well with everyone....so thats cool i guess

Yup! For those trying to find us, look into -

UPE - Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the computer science honor society.

Did you know USC's Information Sciences Institute](http://pollux.usc.edu/~acm/) played a major role in the development of the internet?

Also, the USCLUG (Linux Users Group) has a large mirror of open source software.

Even dating back in the 80s. I worked with lots of smart people that graduated from USC Engineering school. USC's good reputation is not just for Southern California, it's also for Northern California as well. Northern California has a few well known USC Phd graduates that are key members of some very well known hightech companies. Face it, there are a lot of smart people that like to stay in CA schools because of the climate.

Thid dosnt have anything to do with the topic but in line with Nikara told...heres another article
