Geeky Schools

Where do you think there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of geeks and nerds.
You know people into the whole geek sub-culture. Very strong Computer Science and Physics,Engineering etc are a given but where are people the most geekie( don't know if that's spelt right.)
List any suggestions below
I was just wondering so I won't post any Statistics

carnegie melon.

I would guess MIT probably tops the list.

University of Chicago?

CalTech, I would presume

I would definitely agree with MIT being at the top of the list.

Harvey Mudd =)

I second CMU...

Deep Springs College...?

Swarthmore

Carnegie Mellon

U Chicago

Cal Tech

MIT

Rice

maybe RPI?

You know, I think it is a myth. No offense to the students at those schools who try hard to live up to the geeky image, but I just am not convinced that the students at those stereotypically geeky schools are really geeky. Altogether, I have known about 30 or so students who attended MIT, CalTech, Deep Springs, Swarthmore, Chicago, CMU and Harvey Mudd. Most of them weren't geeky. In fact, they were all pretty laid back and cool. I have met three students from Rose Hulman...now they WERE geeky! LOL

Thank you, Alexandre! I think a lot of students at MIT are not geeky so much as passionate about what they do, which is read as geeky and dorky by outsiders.

University of Chicago - the people there are awesome though. Very accepting also.

Okay, because my brother's going to be a sophomore at Mudd next year, and even he admits that he and pretty much everyone else on campus is delightfully geek-brand quirky. It isn't a bad thing to be a bit of a geek there. When I asked my brother if Mudd is nerdy, he said, "Uhhh...we put our Christmas lights up on our wall in the shape of a space filling curve."

MIT, Cal Tech, Harvey Mudd, Carnegie Mellon, Cooper Union
Rice, Deep Springs, though maybe not as much

Well, I think it's one thing to call oneself dorky and quite another to be called dorky by other people.

I mean, personally, I have been known to do a lot of strange and geeky sorts of things... but it sort of ruffles my feathers to be stereotyped, whether accurately or not. ;)

I don't think everyone at Swarthmore is geeky, but there is a small-but-proud contingent. In fact there is a certain dorm and certain club there that pride themselves on their geekiness, but I wouldn't say the whole school is geeky. Swat is an LAC but they are still strong in CompSci and Engineering.

The geekiest kid I know goes to CMU by the way.
