i just got the letter today that i got the joseph m. geisinger scholarship! i'm so excited, $20,000 a year! did anyone else get it?

except, it says "please return the enclosed noticification form by january 20, 2006 to indicate your acceptance of this scholarship in the envelope provided." if i do accept it, does that mean i have to go to michigan? i'm still waiting to hear from berkeley/ucla/texas, which isnt until march/april.

Hello - quick question - how long after you received the information that you were accepted did you receive the scholarship letters? My D just got the acceptance via online notification - just wondering when the scholarship offers might be coming? Thanks!

i was accepted early november, but it was a scholarship i had to apply to separately for. the due date was december 15, and the letter is dated december 20. i have no idea about those supposed scholarships that you're automatically considered for.

Pooter, go to the Parents' Forum and read the thread about merit aid warnings. You do NOT have to accept this scholarship before hearing from other schools, but you DO have to let them know in writing. I think the thread I'm referring you to is a featured thread on the parents' page.

in engineering too. Both me and my sys actually. We are twins. I signed the sheet because i don't think it is binding. It is not allowed to be. If u dont meet the requirements, which means going there, then you don't get it.

i emailed the main lady who signed my scholarship letter, here's her reply. i asked her if accepting the scholarship binded me to Michigan:

"We are excited to hear that Michigan is among your top choices. If you accept this scholarship offer it does not commit you to Michigan. I ask that you let us know what questions you have and what would help with your decision. I look forward to your reply and hope that you will visit Michigan. If we can help with your trip to campus, please let me know."

Pooter, I'd go ahead and accept that scholarship at Michigan because it is most likely not binding. Call the university to make sure though. At any rate, Cal is the only other option you listed that may be slightly better than Michigan in Engineering (Michigan is a little better than UTA and UCLA in Engineering), but I don't think you will get that kind of money from Cal unless you are a CA resident.
