Gender Issues in the Law

How difficult was this course? How are exams? Were there writing assignments and stuff? The class goes from 6:50PM - 9:50. Was there a break or something? What are exams like? There are 2 diff profs teaching it: Kerry Bassett and Annamarie Donovan. Has anyone had any of them or could say anything about them? Thanks.

i haven't taken the class, obviously because i'm an incoming freshman but have you tried RateMyProfessors.com?

I took it with Donovan. There was usually a short break during class, and I can't remember a single time we actually went to 9:40. In fact, I can only remember one time we went past 9. Don't know anything about Bassett, but I enjoyed Donovan. She's a practicing attorney, which means she has an interesting real-world perspective and doesn't really care to spend a ton of time grading. Writing assignments... we had to write a couple of briefs (not an easy assignment for most, but they weren't graded harshly) and the final had a take home essay. However, if you were happy with your grade based on the first 2 exams, you didn't have to take the final. First exam was all multiple choice and short answer questions; 2nd exam focused more on the short answers and had 2 or 3 essays.

How easy it is depends on how comfortable you are with legalese and legal reasoning, how good you are at memorizing details, and whether you have an easy time applying case law to new situations. There's not a ton of reading or assignments though, so if you're good at the aforementioned stuff, it's an easy A.
