gender on CC

snoopy: i assumed girl. why? because few guys i know are willing to admit that snoopy is the shizznit.

I've started using more smilies because I was spending too much time arguing about insignificant things online and clarifying what I really meant by something. I guess I write more formally than most people would on a message board, and sometimes I come off as harsh, confrontational, or overly serious (none of which is true in RL). Adding smilies seems to take care of that, for the most part.

^^^And that shows that you're female. Males never worry about this.

I wouldn't say it was "worrying" so much as "figuring out a way to stop getting into fights all the damn time."

lol :hugs cameliasinensis: we need love in this thread. i, as a fellow female, appreciate your attempts at the pacification of internet communication!

i think i made a rhyme!

@ Mr Payne -- Because my posts really emphasize that facet of my character, non? =P

I'm a girl, for the record's sake. I don't really care if people mistake me for a guy.

morangotango - Very true. I've never understood the people who post controversial threads (e.g. the woman-hating ones) with the obvious intent of starting an argument. Honestly, don't they have anything better to do with their lives than writing essay-length diatribes against someone they've never met?

Which is why I stay out of the political threads, and the religious ones, and the ones about Affirmative Action... sooner or later, everything degenerates into stereotypes and personal attacks. I don't see the appeal.

I apologize for posting at exactly the wrong time-frame.

Haha, and I find feminists typically annoying.

I did, now I tolerate them. Probably because I'm a bit of a feminist myself.

At least I'm not a feminazi.

Feminists annoy me less than male chauvinists, but both groups seem to sort of miss the point, really. Why isn't there a name for people who acknowledge that "different" doesn't mean "better" and think gender equality should be a non-issue?

My mom can be a bit of a man-hater, though. It's bad. :(

It's only those feminists that think women are more equal than men that annoy me.

All humans are equal...but some are more equal than others

animal faaaarm!

My teacher loves to quote that line. ^

I use smilies for the same reason. I have an enormous fear of coming off as pompous, harsh, or as some other less-than-attractive adjective. Sooo, I use smilies to say, "Hey, I'm just joking around here! Look, notice how my smilies reflect my true light-hearted and goofy character!" =) <--- haha.

I personally think that gender is usually really obvious. Males and females just have different tones.

But, who knows? I don't really know how I come off. Any guesses? =)
Ah! I really overuse those smilies.

LesOs is a FEMALE. =D

Correct! +100 points for buttery =)

Wow. I think that I seriously have an addiction to using smilies. They're just so... cute! I can't resist them!

indeed. resistance to cuteness is not a dominant trait in the girl species ^_^
i think it might actually be en evolutionary trait. we're biologically meant to be moms so we like cute things :p

morangotango is a female!

cause those ^_^
