WELL, acinommta, perhaps it isn't a problem you'll have to wrestle with personally after 5pm on Friday.

Your ability to interpret poems is your problem, not mine (as that was the topic of my last post). I really didn't mean to offend you, Byerly, merely to correct a small misinterpretation.

As a female and prospective physics major, the involvement of women in science will always be something important to me. In fact, I will be taking courses at Harvard regardless of whether I'm accepted, by the MIT-Harvard exchange program.

Is that a promise, or a threat?

I hereby admit that I misinterpreted the poem and submit myself to any punishment the majority deems appropriate. Bows head in shame

"Is that a promise, or a threat?"- What do you mean? Is there something wrong with my attending MIT and taking courses at Harvard? The whole point of that exchange program is to give students the opportunity to take the best courses in the world, offered at both fine institutions. And many Harvard students also go to MIT for class.

Byerly, I'm sorry that you are offended, and everyone makes mistakes. I just thought that some of your earlier critical comments about the poem were misleading and unfounded. It's OK that you're a sensitive guy, but please, let's grow up and admit that you were a little off.

The goal of many of us at this board is to get the most we can out of our college years. What is more important than a Harvard diploma is to be able to debate intelligently, appreciate different sides of an issue, and come up with innovate, new ideas. Have you missed this point? Your insinuations that I would not get into Harvard seem immature because they are groundless and meant to be hurtful.

Don't be silly. I made no "critical comments about the poem." I care nothing about "the poem", which hardly requires "interpretation", and you've certainly given very little reason to care a great deal you. As dogged and humorless as you are, I nevertheless hope you achieve your educational goals "as a female and prospective physics major."

I made no "critical comments about the poem."

For someone who "cares nothing about the poem", you have a lot to say.

Anyone else's local newspaper pick up Gene Weingarten when Dave Barry retired? G.W. sure does try hard, but he's not the same. I miss Dave Barry :(

Harvard07, thankyou for exposing the very essence of the Bagdag Bob character.

I know...Barry was the best. We don't even have a replacement.

And a poetry fan, too!

I offered no critique of the "poem", I didn't mention the "poem" and I STILL DON'T CARE about the "poem"!!

The "OP's slander" had nothing to do with the stupid "poem", but rather, suggesting that I "don't like" her favorite college (Yale) which is untrue. Yale is a fine school, and anyone admitted would be well-advised to accept - unless, of course, Harvard is an alternative, (Right, "Harvard 07" ?)

Another lost thread.
