General Advice?!?

Hi, I have no essays for you guys to read...I'm just looking for general advice on college essays.

What techniques did you guys use to make your essay stand out from the essays of a million other qualified kids?

Thanks.

I know it's easier said than done, but make the essay your own. Make sure the essay reflects something special about you, about your character and personality. Try to find something that isn't discussed elsewhere on your application, as the essay is your chance to flesh out your application. Even a cliche topic, if you can put your own unique spin on it, can stand out. Good luck!

don't color ur essays with trite statements "and htat's how my life was changed FOREVER!"

and don't try to cover up the fact that u really don't care about what you're writing about with big adjectives

Something that says something about you. I wrote about public radio and being asian. Show. don't tell. Don't brag, you're 17. Be yourself. Pretend you are at a convention with 5000 other seniors in high school. If you walked around, what do you want people to know about yourself? How would you introduce yourself briefly enough but still let people remember you?

My essay is mantra is write something personal, detailed, honest and revealing.
