General Deadline question

<p>Every app I have turned in has been way before the deadline for the college.</p>

<p>There is one school I was considering applying to whose deadline is Jan. 1. I can definitely complete the app by Jan. 1. However, my guidance office is closed, and they won't send the transcript etc until the week of Jan. 5.</p>

<p>Is it useless to bother? Do the colleges want everything by the deadline date, or can the supporting docs follow?</p>

<p>Most colleges will accept your app by deadline and then take the follow-ups shortly thereafter, as you mention. They understand that school offices are closed for the holiday break. Also, they'll be pleased to see your interest in their school. Apply before deadline but be sure to follow up with your school after break to see that the needed forms follow asap.</p>
